
Although hand sanitizer can be helpful in some instances, washing with soap and water for 20 seconds is often a better way to help stop the spread of germs that cause infectious diseases.
For illnesses that can cause vomiting or diarrhea, soap and water is the best way to wash. But for respiratory diseases that cause coughing and sneezing, hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol is a good alternative.
