NFID Policy for Unrestricted Educational Grants
Policy for Unrestricted Educational Grants
The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) receives funding from a range of sources, including industry and foundation grants, government contracts, and private/individual donations. NFID has established guidelines for managing commercial support and conflicts of interest that are based on ACCME standards and policies. See Policies for Managing Commercial Support and Conflicts of Interest.
Most NFID programming is conducted via unrestricted educational grants. While a grant may be accepted to fund a specific program, the funder does not have input into program development, selection of medical and other experts participating, or the actual program content. The NFID Board of Directors and other well-recognized experts in infectious diseases and associated fields with whom NFID has built relationships have oversight of all programs.
